About Timothy Dragan
Greetings! My name is Timothy Dragan––a man of many interests and pursuits. I was born in Australia, but my heritage is rooted in the rich cultural background of Romanian immigrants who fled from the oppression of communism in the latter half of the 20th century.
By profession, I am a Consultant within the recruitment industry, with previous industry experience in project and procurement management and business administration. But my intellectual curiosity extends far beyond the bounds of my profession. I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge, and I find myself absorbed in diverse fields ranging from theology, philosophy, politics, literature, and art, to economics, business, biology, chemistry, and physics. As a true polymath, I strive to expand my knowledge and challenge myself in every way possible.
Throughout my life, I have been inspired by several luminaries who have shaped and expanded my worldview and contributed to my personal and professional growth. Steve Jobs instilled in me the art of delivering compelling oral presentations, innovative thinking, and business strategies. R.C. Sproul opened my eyes to the profound depth and intricacies of theology, philosophy, literature and art––broadening my perspective and enriching my understanding of the world. And Robert Menzies introduced me to political thought and the classical liberalism that shapes my political beliefs and inspires me to be a responsible and engaged citizen. Naturally, there have been numerous other remarkable individuals who have influenced me, but to name all of them would be too exhaustive and go beyond the intended scope of this page.
When it comes to literature and film, I have a discerning taste that reflects my appreciation for beauty and the complexity of human experience. Among the many books I have read, my favorite fictional novel is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Its thrilling plot, with intricate character development, and timeless themes of revenge, redemption and justice continue to captivate and stimulate me. As for film, The Swan, featuring the wonderful Grace Kelly, is a favourite, evoking a sense of timeless elegance, grace and sophistication that resonates with my own sense of aesthetics.
Most importantly, my faith serves as the cornerstone of my values, and drives me to seek the true, the good, and the beautiful in everything. I strive to live my life with purpose and intention in a way pleasing to the Lord. Therefore, my blog is also influenced by the message in Philippians 4:8, which encourages us to focus on what is true, good, and beautiful. This verse serves as my inspiration for reflecting on these fundamental ideals and exploring their significance in our lives––especially in a world so full of meaningless distractions.
My hobbies include mentoring, reading and studying, writing, debating, hiking, Australian politics, singing, being mesmerised in classical and gothic architecture, and immersing myself in classical and choral music.
